Morgan Sports Law, today announces the appointment of William Sternheimer who joins as a Partner and will lead its newly opened Swiss office based in Lausanne. William Sternheimer joins Morgan Sports Law from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (“CAS”), where he was Deputy Secretary General.  

This is a key appointment for Morgan Sports Law, which has a market leading reputation in sports law arbitration and litigation. The new office in Lausanne, headed by William, is an important geographical and strategic development in growing Morgan Sports Law’s international footprint.  The CAS is also based in Lausanne.          

William Sternheimer spent ten years at the CAS initially as Counsel, followed by Managing Counsel & Head of Arbitration and finally served as Deputy Secretary General. William Sternheimer brings a wealth of experience to Morgan Sports Law, having managed more than 940 CAS arbitrations covering all subject matters, including contractual, disciplinary (e.g. anti-doping, match-fixing and financial fair play), regulatory and governance disputes.  More than 700 of those arbitrations related to football. 

William Sternheimer has also managed arbitrations relating to American Football, Aquabike, Aquatics, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Biathlon, Bowling, Boxing, Canoe, Chess, Cycling, Draughts, Equestrian, Skating, Gymnastics, Handball, Judo, Kickboxing, Martial Arts, Motonautique, Motorcycling, Powerlifting, Shooting, Ski, Squash, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball, Weightlifting and Wrestling. Furthermore, William Sternheimer managed CAS ad hoc Divisions for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and recently the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games.
